Two felony charges dismissed against Adnan Ghalib
Britney Spears’ ex-boyfriend Adnan Ghalib accepted a plea bargain on felony charges which had loomed against him since last spring, according to celebrity news site JFXonline. Ghalib plead no contest in a Van Nuys, Calif. courthouse today. The judge ordered him to serve 45 days in jail, do 45 days of community service and be on probation for three years says JFXonline. He has until Nov. 26 to begin serving his sentence. The felony charges stem from an altercation with a process server who claims Ghalib tried to run him over with his car last February. Ghalib had consistently plead not guilty. Ghalib had been charged with three counts per a court order: Assault with a deadly weapon (his Mercedes), battery with serious bodily injury and hit and run...
Kevin Federline has sole custody of Spears’ children
Some celebrity news outlets have been fooling fans for nearly two years now into believing that Britney Spears has gained increased custody since the conservatorship began in Feb. 2008. “Kevin has sole custody over his children,” says Mark Vincent Kaplan who is Federline’s attorney. Spears has visitation which is the “equivalent” says Kaplan to Fair News Spears. She does not have an iota of custody. While Kaplan has detailed this in the past in at least one video interview with E! Entertainment, some Spears’ fans continue in false belief and argue at sites such Breatheheavy.com that she has 50/50 custody for which the conservatorship is responsible. Meanwhile, celebrity news outlets such as TMZ continue to perpetuate the false story on...
Ex TMZ paparazzo wants more than medical expenses
While TMZ broke the story on medical expenses and general damages claimed against Britney Spears by ex-TMZ employee Ricardo Mendoza, they left out what Mendoza is really after: punitive damages. As reported earlier Spears’ attorney, Benjamin C. Alvarez, made a motion to strike Mendoza’s claim to punitive damages last August. Alavez says that Mendoza hasn’t made a case based on fact and uses conclusionary unsupported allegations. Mendoza, who worked for TMZ at the time of the accident, claims Spears ran over his foot and, “…operated a motor vehicle recklessly, wantonly, unlawfully, maliciously and with conscious disregard for the rights, health and safety of others.” Spears’ attorney fired back in his attempt to dismiss the claim that Mendoza ...
Former security member continues lawsuit against Britney Spears, claims damages, emotional distress
A judge ruled yesterday that a lawsuit against Britney by a former member of her security team will go forward to a jury trial set for May 2010 according to the Los Angeles Superior Court case summary. The suit was filed by Kerry M. Vine against Spears and his former employer Advanced Security Concepts (ASC), a security team that works for her father and the conservatorship based on 2009 expenses filed by Jamie Spears earlier this year. Vine wants compensation for negligence, infliction of emotional distress and loss of wages says the complaint he filed in May 2009. ASC was dismissed from the case at the end of July and Gallagher Bassett Services, a company that insures employers against workmen’s compensation claims, was added per the case summary. In the...
TMZ founder Harvey Levin claims Britney’s backsliding
TMZ’s founder Harvey Levin and his team used a recent shopping trip by Spears to mislead the public into thinking she’s a frantic, compulsive shopper, signs that he says the conservators are seeing as little signs popping up that she’s backsliding into the crazy life. “There’s a little bit of a conundrum. She’s kind of backsliding a little bit. The thing they (the conservators) are looking at is compulsive shopping,” said Levin on TMZ TV this week.* Levin asserts that the conservatorship may end at the end of this year and that the conservators are giving Spears more freedom as they try to wean her away. While it is true that Spears recently spent $3,000 in 15 minutes, according to both TMZ and the boutique stylist who assisted Spears at...
Journalist writes grit article, no ho-hum Britney
Kudos to Canadian journalist Joanne Chianello who either ignored a Britney the Brand press release for the upcoming Circus performance or didn’t receive one. Chianello is a journalist for the Ottawa Citizen where she reminds people today that Spears is under a conservatorship, and while many fans are happy she is on tour and buying tickets, some are disappointed. ‘What they are disappointed about, is Spears’ lack of personal connection with the audience, something the singer has always been famous for. In the Citizen review of Spears’ 1999 concert, she was thought to have “an endearing personality,” and chatted up the crowd. This time around, audiences are lucky if she gives them a “What’s up (insert city name...
