A lawsuit against Adnan Ghalib, a former paparazzo and ex-boyfriend of Britney Spears, may be dismissed in spring due to a conditional settlement that was recently reached.
“We conditionally settled the case. The case is not being dismissed until the settlement is fully performed,” says David S. Olson, attorney for plaintiff Ram Moskowitz.
Moskowitz filed a complaint in April claiming that Ghalib slammed his Mercedes into him on Feb. 11 as he was trying to serve a temporary restraining order against him pertaining to Spears’conservatorship, say court documents.
Moskowitz sought attorneys’fees and punitive and exemplary damages for assault, battery, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional stress and negligent infliction of emotional distress.
A trial date was vacated pending performance of the settlement. The terms of the settlement are confidential, and the case may be dismissed at or prior to a court status conference scheduled for April 15, says Olson. There is a status hearing on March 1.
“As long as the settlement terms are fully performed the case will be dismissed,” says Olson.
Late fall, Ghalib pled no contest to one of three felony charges filed by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office against him early last year for leaving the scene of an accident as a result of the vehicular incident.
“The other felony charges against him were dismissed as part of the plea bargain,” said the deputy district attorney in the case, Andrew Basis, on Dec. 8 to Fair News Spears.
Ghalib served part of his sentence in a Los Angeles jail at the end of November and was released Dec. 3, say inmate records at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. His sentence included 45 days of imprisonment as first reported by JFXonline.com and later by TMZ.
A call to Ghalib’s attorney in the civil case was not returned by press time.
Author’s Note: Olson indicated he was surprised that the media had not covered the story yet. I am surprised as well given the prominence of the names involved and previous interest by the media in Ghalib. I will meanwhile make another attempt for fair comment from Ghalib’s attorney.
