TMZ’s founder Harvey Levin and his team used a recent shopping trip by Spears to mislead the public into thinking she’s a frantic, compulsive shopper, signs that he says the conservators are seeing as little signs popping up that she’s backsliding into the crazy life.

“There’s a little bit of a conundrum. She’s kind of backsliding a little bit. The thing they (the conservators) are looking at is compulsive shopping,” said Levin on TMZ TV this week.*

Levin asserts that the conservatorship may end at the end of this year and that the conservators are giving Spears more freedom as they try to wean her away.

While it is true that Spears recently spent $3,000 in 15 minutes, according to both TMZ and the boutique stylist who assisted Spears at Vionnet Boutique in Los Angeles, without context it’s a mockery of the truth: Vionnet is one of Spears’favorite stores says the stylist who doesn’t want her named used; it’s common for celebrities to drop that amount of cash at Vionnet and Spears was ambushed by paparazzi.
